When to Seek Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic medicine is a group of primary healthcare professionals.

Specifically, it is a medical practice that corrects neuro-musculo- skeletal conditions; Neuro meaning Nerve, Musculo meaning Muscles, and Skeletal meaning Bones.

More importantly, on a larger health perspective, Chiropractic accomplishes much more for the patient than just the relief of pain; its focus, in this office, is to correct subluxation or “bone out of place” and in doing so, re-establish proper communication of the nervous system (autonomic) to the organ’s proper function.

The brain gives and receives information though the nervous system to the body’s systems (muscular, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, reproductive, endocrine, urinary).

The nervous system is complex and comes down from the brain stem, through the spinal column and exits as “nerve roots” from holes called foramina at each spinal segment.

Due to the increasing degenerative disc disease as we age, these spinal segments become decayed and as a result begin to come closer together and lose functionality or the ability for the spinal segment to move freely; at its worse these spinal segments can actually begin to fuse causing disc bulge or herniation resulting in referral type pain down the leg or arms. Discomfort, inflammation, tenderness, muscle spasms, loss of stamina and energy will always accompany this type of injury.

As the degenerative condition worsens overtime, communication between the nervous system and the body’s organ function deteriorates causing illness and disease.  This can be (although not necessarily) a slow progression and the patient does not experience pain until the arthritic decay is well advanced.

Chiropractic adjustments accomplish several physiological changes:

  • One, it corrects the misaligned bone segments (subluxation) within the spine or the extremities (shoulder, knee, ankle, wrist, elbow, etc.),
  • two, from the adjustment, more blood is brought into each segment thereby decreasing further progression of the degenerative disc disease (the increase of blood into the tissue(s) provokes a healing response),
  • three, as proper alignment of the spine is established, nerve communication at that segment now flows freely from its origin (the brain) to the organ system,
  • four, as blood and nervous function are re-establised, muscles move as they are supposed to and relax reducing the patient’s overall stress.

In this improved health condition, the body can begin to function as it was meant to and the patient can now move towards an optimal level of health.

However, it is important to understand that health is a process; just because we may be healthy today does not guarantee health for a lifetime. The body system as any other system, must be maintained.

“Health” is dynamic. In my professional experience, there are a number of reasons that a person’s health will begin to fail; and contrary to the traditional viewpoints and practices of Western medicine, prescribing surgery and medication(s), is sometimes not the best option for the patient in the long term.

I recognize that in some cases, the disease is moving too rapidly in the body that medication and/or surgery is the only effective option.

However, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

I see patients waiting to take care of their spine until pain arrives and then  “CRISIS CARE” begins- muscle relaxers, pain meds, injections, etc. There is not a “quick fix” when it comes to health.

There is not simply “one” pill, “one” exercise, “one” supplement that you can perform or eat to achieve optimal health and vitality long-term.

Chiropractic Sports and Acupuncture offers safe and effective treatment(s) not only as options to medication(s) and/or surgery but as a Prevention to medication(s) and surgery.

There is an ever increasing number of the population (even children) being prescribed medication today.  The body can not sustain a continued use of medication without experiencing severe adverse side effects.

I find that the community is not aware of their treatment options pertaining to resolving their health condition(s) and it is my responsibility to do so.

If you, your family, or friends suffer from
